My family and I finally had our first visit to the ocean a few weeks ago when we visit Saint Simons Island, GA. Even though I was excited to go see the ocean, I didn’t think I’d like it. I was wrong. I am hooked! I had so much fun on this trip. I was able to relax and sleep for the first time in well over a year. I’m ready to go back! I may have been on the Atlantic Ocean but the Pacific Breeze cabana and loungers, I told you about a few months ago, really came in handy. I’m extremely glad we had them to try out!
I am very pale. Like porcelain white. 3 of our 4 kids are too. The 4th got a lot of her dad and grandmother’s Cherokee blood so she tans quickly and easily. I’m so jealous! The rest of us got my Irish DNA and tend to burn and peel with minimal tan. Plus, I get hot very easily so I really enjoyed sitting in that sun shelter. My father-in-law has COPD and wasn’t able to get in the water so the Pacific Breeze cabana sun shelter helped him a great deal too.
When I would get too hot or start to feel myself burning, I’d get inside and take photos of everyone having fun.
It has an extra shade you can move to each side to block the sun as it moves but we really didn’t need it. With it down, there was a great breeze that flowed through, from the ocean, keeping us nice and cool inside. I was able to fit several camping chairs inside.
I used our loungers outside to get some sun if we wanted. I found (after the first day of getting sunburned) that after getting in the ocean, if I’d go in the cabana and dry off, reapply sunscreen and then sit on the loungers for a few minutes, I didn’t burn. Instead, I got a little tan!
When we’d get hot, we’d go in the cabana. With the breeze, I could have easily taken a nap in there. But I wanted to enjoy our limited time in the ocean water and not just on the beach.
We had so much fun! I am ready to go back to St Simon’s Island for some fun and relaxation. One week just wasn’t enough!
