Summer Fun In The Winter With Swimmable Mermaid Tails

Our youngest daughter has always had a fascination with mermaids. When we went to the beach, last year, she desperately wanted one of the swimmable mermaid tails. She had a mermaid tail blanket, last year, but we didn’t have the chance to get her the swimmable kind before our trip, so instead, I surprised her with an early Christmas gift of one this year!

It’s funny because I was looking at them online and we talked about which ones we liked the best. She just thought I’d clicked on an ad, when in reality, she was picking out the one she wanted. Mama’s sneaky.   😀

I teamed up with the US Family Guide and Sun Tail Mermaid to give you a glimpse into these fun mermaid tails. When we head to the beach next summer, she’ll be ready! She will only be using it at the beach house pool, not in the ocean.

These swimmable mermaid tails can be used in the water for swimming. Please make note that your child needs to be a strong swimmer and always use adult supervision in and around the water!

There are several colors available for the tail and monofin. The monofins come in a wide range of colors and look like scales, so you can match your mermaid tails or look amazing wearing it alone.

It doesn’t need the mermaid tail swimsuit over it and can be purchased separately. In fact, when you first start using it, you practice with just the monofin before ever using the mermaid tail swimsuit.

There are neoprene pads that go on the corners of the monofin to protect the inside of the swimtail from tears. I forgot to get a photo of the neoprene corners but you can see the monofin below.

There are also, included, “training stickers” that go on the outside of the swimmable mermaid tails. These help train your child to not rub or bump the edge of the pool, tearing the swimsuit. The stickers will get scratched when rubbed against the edge, instead.

When you place your order, you need to measure from your childs waist to ankle and order the one in that length to ensure proper fit. It fits pretty good around the waist and the material is a swimsuit material so it works perfectly in the water. It doesn’t come with a top, though, so you do have to have your own swimsuit top. She was a little disappointed in that. But overall she really likes it.

One thing to note is that the part of the monofin that goes over the feet is made of neoprene and is meant to be tight fitting. So it is fairly hard to get on at first, especially if your kids have big feet like we all do. Once she got it on one time it was easier the next time. She figured out the best way to put it on. Also note that you need to put the swimtail on first and pull it up, then the monofin. The swimtail then easily slides down over the monofin and into place.

When she has her mermaid tail on it looks pretty realistic! We’re having cold weather here in the mountains so it will be awhile before she can fully test it out. We can’t wait to see how it does in the swimming pool next summer! In the meantime, she is enjoying trying it on and pretending to be a mermaid.

Not into being a mermaid? Check out the shark fins too!
