I don’t know about you but I am really tired of sitting down with my family to watch a television show and having to cover their eyes and ears part way through to keep them from seeing or hearing something inappropriate. Call me old fashioned if you want but I don’t want my young children to see sex and adult content on TV. I’m no prude, but I believe children should be able to keep their innocence, for as long as possible. They should be sheltered from adult issues and content. And I love spending time with them. I love movie night and family night. I love being able to sit down and watch a show with them and laugh and enjoy popcorn.

To do that, we need programming that is family friendly. Programming that we, as parents don’t have to spend hours scouring to make sure it’s ok or taking chances that the kids are going to learn something new… and not something you really want them to learn! The Dove Channel offers that and my family and I were lucky enough to get to try it out for free along with a complimentary ROKU stick to view it with on our smart tv.
For $4.99 a month, Dove Channel has more than 900 hours of TV and movies. All programs have been checked out by The Dove Foundation to ensure they are family friendly. And it is so easy to set up!
So we plugged the ROKU Streaming Stick into our TV and followed the onscreen prompts to get it activated and linked to our WIFI. You can add channels to it so I added the Dove Channel and logged in with my account info. It is just like other subscription services you may already use for streaming movies and shows. Then we browsed the different shows and movies that are available inside it. There were plenty of kids shows like cartoons and series. There were also movies for kids as well as for the entire family.
There are categories you can browse through for a specific type of programming like sports, comedy, action adventure, coming of age, etc.
There is also Holiday programming and a section called Dove Delights!
When you are choosing a movie to watch the show screen shows ratings, info about the show, length, etc.
We chose a movie for movie night, popped the popcorn and settled in to watch. We didn’t have any problem with over buffering, delays or timeouts. Everything played smoothly and the picture was crisp and clear. I love that I was able to actually sit and enjoy the show with the kids without worrying about curse words or folks making out. We just watched tv and enjoyed family time. It was so nice to relax!
If you have someone on your Holiday list that has a tv with an hdmi port and wifi you may consider gifting the Dove Channel this year!
