This is the time of year that solicitors love to come knocking on my door and it drives me crazy, so I created a free printable no soliciting sign. If you’re like me, having someone knock on your door every single day at all hours can be quite nerve wracking. With the elections coming up we have had politicians knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell and leaving advertising leaflets in the door. I’m sorry but I work from home which is no different than any other job and I just don’t have time to answer my door a million times a day.

Not to mention, I don’t open my door to strangers. There is just too much crime and drama that takes place. And I have children. We teach them that you don’t talk to strangers. So, if I don’t know you or I can’t see who’s at the door, I don’t open it. Period!

I don’t care what you’re selling. I have a church, faith and denomination that I’m quite content with.  I don’t care if you want me to vote for you. Don’t waste your time knocking on my door.

I apologize if you are in direct sales or politics or are spreading the Word for your church. I don’t mean this to offend you. But I belong to a church. I know who I’m voting for and can keep up with it on my own. And if I need a product, I’ll either buy it at the store or research it online or get the info from social media or the blogs I follow. If I want something from direct sales, I’ll go to one of my friends direct sales parties. Which, really, is the safest way to be selling your product anyway. Not door to door.

I wanted a no soliciting sign that would get my message across without seeming too harsh. I also wanted something that would look nice on my door. And I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking for so I made my own. I’ve had a few people ask me for it so I decided to share it here in case you’d like it too. It’s free if you’d like it.

  1. Hi Crystal, I hear you, sister! The salespeople knocking at my door .. scratch that, BANGING at my door and repeatedly ringing the bell is becoming unbearable. Sometimes it is so aggressive, you would think a SWAT team was about to kick the door in. I mean, really, do they think that is going to make me MORE inclined to open the door to a stranger? After 2 interruptions already today, I sat down to make a NO SOLICITING Sign that looks nice, but means business. I started googling for some ideas and found your freebie. That’s really cute, thanks for sharing!

    • Some people can be so obnoxious! I agree, banging on my door sure isn’t going to make me MORE inclined to answer to them.
I’ve heard a couple people scratching around on the porch but they never knocked and didn’t leave their card. So it seems to be working so far. If I get any knocks now, I’ll make one a little less nice. 😀
Hope the sign works for ya! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!!!

  2. This sign is nice but direct. Thank you! I too am a SAHM and do not answer the door, so i have to wait it out and hope the kids stay napping… I will see how it works but may have to have it even more spelled out as there are a lot of pamphlets and business cards left at our door too which makes my Chihuahua/Weiner dog go nuts. As well I live in southern California so Spanish is pretty much a 2nd language. I wish I had the program to type it up myself! Bless you for sharing!

    • Hi Rhonda,

When you click the share button it sometimes takes a few seconds for the download dialogue to open up. Could you please try clicking the tweet share button again, close the box without tweeting again, and see if it works?

  3. Hi Crystal,

Your sign is AWESOME. Thank you so much for sharing. We have two very protective Yorkies in the house, and it is so annoying when un-welcome folks come to the door peddling whatever it is they are peddling. There is no reason in the world in this day in age for door-to-door sales people, at least in my opinion.

    • HI Lori,
I totally agree with you! Anything and everything we could possibly need is right at our fingertips nowadays. And there are plenty of ads to show us pretty much everything out there.

I’m glad you like my sign and hope it helps keep your Yorkies calm and the peddlers away! Thank you!!!

  4. Thank you, this is exactly what I’m looking for. I’m hard of hearing myself and never hear the door but they sometimes catch us when we walk out the front door. I am in Direct Sales myself but I will never go door to door as that’s the wrong way to do my business.
