Stanford Inn Resort Offers The Chance To Grow Your Lunch And Eat It Too

Taking “playing with your food” to a whole new level, the Stanford Inn Resort in California, offers guests the chance to grow their lunch and eat it too!

The Stanford Inn Resort in Mendocino touts its plant-based status and health benefits to travelers in a nod toward World Vegetarian Day (October 1) and Vegetarian Awareness Month.

The sustainable luxury property, which is the only plant-based resort in the United States, is home to a GROW BIOINTENSIVE® educational farm and attracts travelers and students from around the globe who come to learn how to sustainably grow a complete diet in the smallest amount of space possible. The farm, which is also USDA Organic certified, provides produce for the Resort’s award-winning Ravens Restaurant.

Stanford In Resort will be offering guests the opportunity to stroll through the gardens and take a class (beginner to advanced gardeners) and possibly pitch in with the days farming, literally helping to grow their meal.


Guests can wander on the grounds, taking in views of the plants and edible flowers. They can also visit the resorts Wellness Center where they can take advantage of things such as a massage in the forest (that sounds amazing!), nutrition and cooking classes, hikes and more.

World Vegetarian Day is a day of celebration established by the North American Vegetarian Society and the annual kick-off of Vegetarian Awareness Month. The purpose of the two is to promote joy, compassion and the life-enhancing possibilities of a vegetarian diet.

Food will be prepared at the Resort’s Ravens Restaurant. The award-winning restaurant serves organic plant-based cuisine that is conscientiously prepared with respect for the land.
