Last summer I ordered a new pair of tortoise shell eyeglasses from my eye doctor’s online store. I’d been wanting a pair of prescription eyeglasses that would automatically transition between clear lenses and sunglasses. When I saw the dark pink tortoise shell frames I fell in love!

I DON’T LIKE THEM!
Let me explain. I wear progressive lenses (bifocals). When the glasses arrived, I loved how they looked. But, I couldn’t see as well with them as I should! I went back to my eye doctor and they said the PD was wrong but that I’d need to send them back to the online store for replacing. I didn’t want fool with all that so I suffered through.
The other issue was that, while they transition to sunglasses really quickly, they take FOREVER to transition back to clear. (everybody warned me) Also, they don’t block the sun all that well so I was still having to wear my prescription sunglasses to drive. They worked well enough to go from the car to the store and back since it was quick. But once inside the store, DR, etc… they stayed dark far too long.
They were very expensive too! I was so disappointed. I absolutely love the pink tortoise shell frames. So I sat out to find less expensive frames in a similar style and color and I found two that I liked from GlassesShop for less money than I spent (even with insurance) on that ONE pair from the eye Dr!
Honestly, I should have just gone there in the first place. I’ve ordered several pairs of prescription eyeglasses and prescription sunglasses from GlassesShop, even teaming up with them on a couple, and have never been disappointed! Ever. Lesson learned for sure!

Prairie Rectangle Pink Tortoise Eyeglasses
The first pair I’ll talk about is the Prairie Rectangle Pink Tortoise Eyeglasses. These frames come in size small. I wish I’d paid more attention to the size because they’re a bit too narrow for me. Don’t get me wrong, they are super comfortable and I can wear them but I have a large face. So, I prefer a wider frame. The good thing about GlassesShop is they put the sizes on each style’s webpage. I really liked these tortoise shell frames so I didn’t even look. I just ordered.

The Prairie Rectangle Pink Tortoise Eyeglasses are available in Pink Tortoise and Petal Tortoise. Petal looks more peachy on the website.
The lenses are available in the following: Clear, Blue Light, Sunglasses and Photochromic.
The square frames are made of acetate and weigh 0.56 oz before lenses. The arms are thin and feel good behind the ears. They are VERY lightweight, even with my pop-bottle thick lenses! They feature a universal bridge fit and spring hinge. The spring hinge allows them to fit nicely even on my wider face.
These are more square and have an almost butterfly shape on the face. They are so pretty!
This luxurious frame comes in a semi-transparent opaque tortoiseshell acetate finish throughout and features rectangle shaped lenses. Flexible spring hinges means you won’t have to sacrifice comfort for style.
If you have a thinner face the Prairie Rectangle Pink Tortoise Eyeglasses will be perfect for you. Again, they do fit. I just prefer my prescription eyeglasses to be a bit bigger. Personal preference.

Althea Rectangle Tortoise Eyeglasses
The pair I wear daily are the Althea Rectangle Tortoise Eyeglasses. These pink tortoise shell eyeglasses have thicker arms. They fit very snug but are still really comfortable. I don’t have any issues with them sliding off my nose. They stay put and I love them!
These pink tortoise eyeglasses also have lenses available in the following: Clear, Blue Light, Sunglasses and Photochromic. They would be super cute as sunglasses! In fact, I’ll probably order myself a pair of prescription sunglasses in the Althea Rectangle Tortoise shell frames. They will be perfect for this summer!

These frames are made of TR90 plastic and weigh 0.45 oz before lenses. They also have a universal bridge fit but don’t have spring hinges. Again, very lightweight and comfortable! I do wish they were spring hinge though. That’s the only thing I’d personally like to see different. Otherwise, they are pretty perfect!
I really like the more rectangle style. I feel they suit my face more. I like a wider lens and frame and these fit the bill!

These medium, rectangle frames work very well for me. The pink tortoise shell frames design is so pretty and stylish I’m so glad I remembered to look on GlassesShop because they had exactly what I was looking for!
They were a little tight on my right ear but each pair of glasses comes with a pamphlet featuring tips for how to adjust your prescription eyelasses to your liking. Warming the temple arm a bit under hot water allowed me to slightly bend it up, making it perfect.
