Anita Higman is an amazing story teller. She has the ability to draw you into her stories and make you feel like you are living the story. In Where God Finds You, Anita covers 40 stories of Bible characters, written in first-person, and adds the details that adds that touch of reality. If you are like me, you know the stories in the bible are real, but it is sometimes hard to connect with the men and women.
Lives were lived so differently then. It makes it difficult to imagine what their lives were like. Anita takes care of that in the way she wrote the stories of these 40 Bible characters. She makes it so easy to read their stories and follow along. Each devotion is followed by the related scripture and comments. She covers the story “From Gods Word” as a well as “From Then To Now”.
And it’s not all only women of the Bible. We hear stories from Mary, Mother of Jesus, Lazarus, Jonah, Martha Eve, John the Baptist and more. As I said, this book covers 40 different Bible characters.
I had planned on reading one story a day for 40 days. I read the entire book in a weekend. I seriously couldn’t stop reading it. It is so well written and the stories really draw you in.
If you are looking for a new twist to Devotionals, this is it. I highly recommend Anita Higman’s Where God Finds You.
Here’s more about Where God Finds You:
Have you ever longed to crawl into the pages of the Bible? To walk on the Judean hills or feel the spray of the Red Sea? To know what it’s like to confront a king or pour perfume on a Savior’s feet?
In forty devotional tales, Where God Finds You breathes new life into ancient Bible characters. Through reflection on Scripture and prayer, you’ll discover a place in each of these lives of vulnerability, tenderness, truth and love – a place where you can find God….and where God finds you.
Book excerpt:
My dreams have blessed me, and my dreams have cursed me.
I rested my head against the rocky walls—my gloomy prison chamber—waiting for my death. Like the howling desert winds, in a fit of fury my brothers had swept me up and hurled me here. And where was here? This cistern must have a name, just as mine was Yosef. But unless I am rescued my name will be no more.
